'The Biggest Weekend' set to replace Glastonbury for 2018
The festival is taking place in Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales...simultaneously.
The BBC have stepped into the breach in fine style as the Glastonbury festival takes a break for 2018.
'The Biggest Weekend' will replace BBC Radio 1's 'Big Weekend' with a four-day festival taking place in four sites in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales respectively.
It will take place from May 25 to 28.
Director of BBC Radio and Music Bob Shemman said it was all about "bringing the best UK music to the world and the best global music to the UK.”
No lineup details have been announced as yet, but the expansive nature of the event is sure to lead to frenzied speculation on which heavy hitters will be playing.
The festival will be a 2018-only event, however, as Glastonbury returns in 2019 after its customary year off to allow the farm, householdand locality of Worthy Farm to recover.
Even with this good news, some people aren't happy:
When did BBC News start referring to events by an abbreviated nickname? 'Glasto'? Come on... #TheBiggestWeekend

Are you already planning a trip up to Belfast to catch the action? Maybe you're planning to jet it over to England, Wales or Scotland? Whatever your plans, it looks set to be a belter of an occasion.
