Teenage Time Killers - Greatest Hits Vol.1
Rock's avengers release riotous new record
You know, it takes a lot of balls to call your debut album Greatest Hits Vol 1. But as Teenage Time Killers’ debut involves an array of metal, punk and hardcore icons, we can forgive them their trolling title. Led by Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Corrosion Of Conformity’s Reed Mullin and My Ruin’s Mick Murphy, the record boasts enough star power to fuel a thousand Marshall amps, with members (past and present) of Clutch, Queens of the Stone Age, Slipknot, the Dead Kennedys, Lamb of God, Prong, and more, all appearing to lend a scream or an axe to this loud and proud opus.
Serving as 20 dark hymns to the days when metal, punk and hardcore first began to cross-pollinate, Greatest Hits Vol. 1 unashamedly worships at the altar of the riff. All killer and no filler, highlights include the neck-bothering, doom-laden beast ‘Crowned By The Light Of The Sun’, the smash-mouth pit anthem ‘Big Money’ and the diabolically good chug-fest ‘Clawhoof ’. While it’s unlikely that all 29 members will ever perform the record live, at least we’ve the prospect of a Greatest Hits Vol.2 in the pipeline.
KEY TRACK: 'Big Money'
