Streisand concert-goers to be compensated
MCD is to compensate 2,500 people who attended the Barbra Streisand concert in Kildare last July.
The promoter said today it would accept in full the recommendations of the committee set up to investigate complaints made following Streisand's rain-hit outdoor show at Castletown House on July 14. In total 1,144 complainant letters representing approximately 2,500 people will be compensated.
Approximately 200 people who had to stand or chose to stand and did not have seats will be fully refunded and a further 561 who ended up in seats which were not their original seats and were in a price tier below the one they had tickets for will be compensated with the difference in price.
Another 383 who experienced difficulties relating to car parking, general disruption and people standing in front of them, where it is considered that MCD had some responsibility, will be compensated in the form of a €100 voucher.
In a statement, the managing director of MCD Dennis Desmond said: "I would once again like to apologise to those concert-goers whose experience was spoiled and not what they should have expected.
"I would like to sincerely thank the members of the committee for their work in compiling this report. Their comments and observations will assist us to ensure that we continue to provide the very best concert experience for our patrons."
"The concert at Castletown House on July 14 took place during a period of unprecedented bad weather and I would like to acknowledge MCD staff, sub-contractors and the statutory authorities including the Garda Siochana and Kildare County Council for their support and hard work in what were very difficult conditions." he added.
