Long before Sonic Youth, indeed ever since Television, American indie bands have always had a tradition of mixing primitive pop forms with the most searingly avant-garde guitar styles. Catherine Wheel confirm and conform to that tradition. They may not be the next giant step for humankind but I will leave this Apple to replay the whiz and stutter of the flipside, ‘It’s No Lie’.
