SOAK, Brian May and Charlotte Church Among Musicians Against UK Military Action In Syria
The musicians took a stand last night on social media under #NotInMyName.
Last night the UK parliament passed a motion to support the Conservative's plans to launch airstrikes against ISIS in Syria. The decision to bomb Syria comes following the attacks in Paris last month.
However, a number of musicians have taken a stand against the decision that their parliament has taken in declaring war on Syria that has been repeatedly bombed over the past year by the US, France and Russia.
Charlotte Church tweeted last night "So sad … just so sad. #notinmyname. To all those who voted for bombs, I wish you a good night’s sleep …"
While Hot Press favourite SOAK tweeted with wisdom well beyond her years that "You can bomb a person, you can’t bomb an ideology’. #NotInMyName."
Queen guitarist Brian May also threw his disdain for the decision of the UK Parliament to implement a strategy of direct military intervention in Syria by stating on his website "I believe going in to bomb indeterminate targets in Syria will be the biggest mistake Britain has ever made".
