Simone Marie Butler announces departure from Primal Scream
Primal Scream are yet to address Butler's departure or announce who will be taking her place.
Simone Mary Butler, who had been the bassist for Scottish rock band Primal Scream for the past 13 years, has taken to Instagram to announce her departure from the group.
"Going forward, I will no longer be playing with the band and shall miss that, but I truly wish them all the very best for the future," said Butler.
In her statement, she expressed her fondness for the group, thanking lead singer Bobby Gillespie and guitarist Andrew Innes for the opportunity.
"It truly has been an amazing ride with genuinely beautiful people," said Butler. "So so many incredible times, laughs and experiences.
"Primal Scream's music meant a lot to me even before I was playing those iconic bass lines and when I got that call to audition it felt like divine timing so I'd like to thank Bobby and Andrew for taking a chance on me all those years ago."
Butler had already not performed with Primal Scream at the Roundhouse in London in December, which was a special anniversary show in support of their album XTRMNTR (2000).
She had joined the rock band in 2012 following the exit of Gary "Mani" Mounfield, who left the group to participate in The Stone Roses reunion.
Primal Scream were formed in 1982 in Glasgow by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie, who left the group in 1987 after their debut album, Sonic Flower Groove, dropped.
Primal Scream's current line-up consists of Gillespie, Andrew Innes and Darrin Mooney.
