Selena Gomez set to host MTV EMAs

She's a singer, a Disney star and the girlfriend of Justin Bieber, now Selena Gomez has been confirmed as the host of the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), which you should be well aware are happening on November 6 in Belfast’s Odyssey Arena.

As well as notching up three multi-platinum albums, the Dallas native has starred in a number of successful TV shows and films including Wizards of Waverly Place, Ramona And Beezus and Monte Carlo, and has also diversified into the rag trade with her Dream Out Loud clothing line. Add in her role as a UNICEF ambassador and days off are currently somewhat at a premium.

"I'm so excited to be the host of the 2011 MTV EMA – it's a dream come true!” says Gomez. "This is such a huge event that always recognises the biggest stars in music from across the globe, so it's a real honour to be MC at this year's show."

Whether it means the Bieb might be hitting Irish shores for a little moral support remains to be seen.
