Saucy Monky Release Part 2 of Trophy Girl
Blistering return for band fronted by Annmarie Cullen and Cynthia Catania.
Saucy Monky today release a three-track EP, the second part of their Trophy Girl album project, entitled simply Trophy Girl Part 2. The memorably catchy 'Do I Have Your Attention' is the lead single, followed by 'Sleepwalking' and 'My Girlfriend Is Alcohol'.
The band, fronted by Dubliner Annmarie Cullen and New Jersey's Cynthia Catania created a stir last autumn with the release of a steamy video, featuring lesbian love scenes, for their single, 'Awkward' – the lead track from Trophy Girl Part 1. Annmarie and Cynthia have spoken openly about their own love affair, the ending of which almost derailed the Saucy Monky project entirely. Now, however, they are fully back on track...
"The period post-breakup was surreal," Cynthia confessed recently in a piece written for the Huffington Post's Gay Voices section. "We were being courted by a smart record executive who wanted to sign us. He swooped in exactly at the time we broke. In some ways, I felt he was the glue that held us together during those first few months. He eventually took on the role of being our manager. To add to the strangeness, in time I dated him."
Saucy Monky have had tracks featured on a number of Nickelodeon shows, including iCarly, Blue Bloods and Alcatraz, as well as in several films – notably And Then Came Lola and America. The band recently welcomed a new drummer, Alexa Brinkschulte – originally from Bremen in Germany – into the fold.
Saucy Monky are scheduled to play Pride Festivals in Santa Barbara (July 13) and OC Pride Festival, in Santa Ana (August 10).
