Sam Amidon set to release new album Salt River
The album is set to release on on 24 January 2025
London based folk-singer Sam Amidon is set to release his new album Salt River in collaboration with saxophonist and producer Sam Gendel.
The singer has also released the first single from his new album entitled 'I'm On My Journey Home', an emotional and intense folk ballad.
The 10 tracks on Amidon's new album range from traditional Appalachian ballad 'Golden Willow Tree' to a radical reimagining of Lou Reed’s 'Big Sky'.
Salt River is the first extended collaboration between Amidon and Gendel, sparked when Amidon suggested they delve into his treasure box of collected songs.
Sam says the album is like “a campfire, but the campfire is around Sam Gendel’s synthesizer. Or maybe it’s a journey through the corridors of my memory, if my memory was transplanted into Sam and Phil’s dreams.”
The multi-instrumentalist has also previously collaborated with the likes of The National, The Britten Sinfonia and Beth Orton. Salt River will be Amidon’s first record for Rough Trade Records’ sister label River Lea.
Salt River is set for release on January 24, 2025, and is available for pre-order here.
