Sam Amidon and special guest Leif Vollebekk for Dublin show
Acclaimed folk singer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon will coax out songs from his fourth studio album I See The Sign in in a special show in Whelan's next month
Marsheled by Icelandic producer, Valgeir Sigurdsson and featuring gently swooning arrangements by Nico Muhly, four duets with Beth Orton, three nimble reworkings of children's singing games and even an affectionate R. Kelly cover, 'I See the Sign' showcases Amidon’s deft attention to songcraft and meaningful collaboration.
Aiming to sound somewhere between Hank Williams and Sigur Ros, special guest on the night Leif Vollebekk is a Canadian songwriter who comes a long way to achieving just that, with simple acoustic guitar lead arrangements and a unique story-telling ability informed by his studying of the Icelandic language as well as modern Philosophy.
Tickets for the June 2 show are €15 including booking and are on sale from www.tickets.ie, City Discs, Road Records & Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
