Ash announce new album Ad Astra
The record comes out on October 3 via Fierce Panda.
Punk rock trio Ash are set to release their ninth studio album Ad Astra on October 3 via Fierce Panda.
They also shared the accompanying single ‘Give Me Back My World’, the follow up to their most recent track ‘Jump The Line’.
‘Give Me Back My World’ was penned in 2020, according to lead singer and guitarist Tim Wheeler, saying that “you'd hardly need a degree from the school of Marple, Holmes and Poirot to figure out what it's getting at.
“And although those sentiments may be just a memory from the standpoint of 2025,” he continued, “the song's heart still feels relevant. In a time of chaos, disruption and angst there's still a beautiful world out there and it's worth fighting for."

Accompanying the album, Ash will also embark on their Ad Astra tour, including six December Irish dates in Listowel, Dundalk, Galway, Cork, Limerick and a headline show at The Academy in Dublin.
Speaking of the record, the band’s Rick McMurray said: “The title Ad Astra, the worst kept secret of the last month, points to ideas that became a big identifier back in 1995, but they're updated with 30 years life experience. I'll leave you to compare the differences, and with the thought that while the optimistic innocence of 1995 might have been tempered with 30 years of experience, if you look to the stars you might still feel a glimmer. Of hope.”
Ad Astra is the follow up to 2023 Race The Night (the band's highest charting album for 20 years), which was rated a 8/10 by Hot Press, who said that the record made it clear that the “Downpatrick trio have lost none of the vim, vigour or verve that propelled them to the upper echelons of the charts as teenagers.”
