French filmmaker Vincent Moon to play live show in Dublin

French filmmaker Vincent Moon will play a live show at Dublin's Fumbally Stables on August 19.

Moon was the main director behind La Blogothèque's Take Away Shows, a series that invites bands and artists to play on the street, in a bar, garden or apartment. The format is simple with just a single camera, one take and no soundcheck.

The YouTube series began in the 2006 and was designed to pull musicians from their regular stage environment. It transports their music to a casual, street-level area to create an authentic and raw performance.

The series has featured many artists including Arcade Fire playing in an elevator, Michael Stipe of R.E.M. singing acapella in a grain silo and Childish Gambino in the midst of a party at a loft in L.A.

Moon has been operating under the title of Petites Planètes since 2009, traveling to over 70 countries to document religious rituals, shamanic practice, trance music and village singing.

He uses his vast archive to create Live Cinéma in front of an audience. Moon edits the footage live, mixing images with his own recordings, often inviting a musician to the stage to play with or against the recording, influenced by the room he is in.

He has made over a hundred recordings of past editions, available on Soundcloud, no two performances are the same.
