Following on from topping the Irish charts last week, recent figures reveal that sales of Cohen's music have seen a 400% spike in the last few weeks since the singer's death.
The musician passed away following a fall in the middle of the night on November 7. His funeral took place shortly after, before his death was officially confirmed on November 11.
Cohen’s 1984 song ‘Hallelujah’ returned to the US singles chart last week and his best-of compilation, The Essential Leonard Cohen, entered the Billboard 200 at number 13 (20,000 units; 11,000 in traditional album sales), while his most recent album, You Want It Darker, climbed to number 7 (with sales up by 197%).
In total, Cohen’s album and song sales – in combination with on-demand streams – rose by 407% to 18.45 million for the week ending November 17.

In Ireland, Cohen’s You Want It Darker held firm at the top of the charts last week, having already spent three weeks there since its release on October 21. The Greatest Hits and The Essential compilation albums also entered the Irish top 10.
