Sabrina Carpenter unveils alternative cover “approved by God” for new album Man’s Best Friend

Sabrina Carpenter has shared another cover for her new album.
The American pop star unveiled the original artwork for Man’s Best Friend earlier in June when announcing the record, and was met with backlash for allegedly being over sexualised. The original cover depicts Carpenter kneeling on the floor as an unidentified person stands beside her and pulls on her hair.
Some have criticised the cover as leaning on “tired tropes that reduce women to pets”. In a statement on Facebook, Glasgow Women’s Aid has condemned the artwork, saying: “Sabrina Carpenter’s new album cover isn’t edgy; it’s regressive. It’s a throwback to tired tropes that reduce women to pets, props, and possessions and promote an element of violence and control. We’ve fought too hard for this.”
Carpenter has responded to the backlash, saying: “I can not give a fuck about it”.
Now, Carpenter has shared a new alternative cover, which she jokes is “approved by God”.
The follow-up to 2024’s Short n’ Sweet is due for release on 29th August and will feature her latest single, ‘Manchild’, though a full tracklist has not yet been confirmed.
