A life-size portrait of Van Morrison is just one of the treats in store as Dublin's Apollo Gallery stages a new exhibition by William Mulhall.

The Northerner first came to rock 'n' roll prominence in 1971 when Led Zeppelin were so taken with his work that they invited him on stage with them at the Ulster Hall.

More recently, he was allowed backstage at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny to sketch Bob Dylan. The Big Zim's reaction to the portraits which ensued? "Fantastic!"

The Duke Street art emporium also has a permanent display of work by Ronnie Wood, and plans to bring Marilyn Manson's Age Of The Grotesque show here in early 2002.
