Robbie Williams surprises fans by releasing BRITPOP album early
The new record is out now via Columbia Records.
Robbie Williams has surprise-released his new album BRITPOP, out today via Columbia Records.
The record includes a number of star-studded features, including Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Gaz Coombes (Supergrass), Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi, Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy, and Gary Barlow.
The album cover was projected onto various famous London landmarks in the early hours of the morning to tease the surprise release.
Williams also put out the brand new single ‘All My Life’, which you can check out below:
Speaking of the new album, Williams explains: “I set out to create the album that I wanted to write and release after I left Take That in 1995. It was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British music.
“I’ve worked with some of my heroes on this album,” he continued. “It’s raw, there are more guitars and it’s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual. There’s some ‘Brit’ in there and there’s certainly some ‘pop’ too — I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I’m excited for fans to hear it.”
The album artwork pays homage to the period, featuring a painted reinterpretation by Kate Oleska based on the photo by Mick Hutson of Robbie’s iconic red tracksuit look from Glastonbury 1995, with photography by Julian Broad.
BRITPOP is available now across multiple formats, with limited signed bundles exclusively available through the official Robbie Williams store.
