Having met in BIMM Dublin at a fortuitous stage when many of the group's members were looking for a new project, Vernon Jane was born after an evening jam session. Consisting of five core members, singer/guitarist Emily Jane, bassist Ricky Lahert, drummer Niamh Casey, percussionist Daragh Mayon and guitarist Alex Harvey, the five-piece often add members during their live performances to include a trumpet and saxophone player, as well as backing vocalists.
"All of us really love music and all types of genres, so that has really aided our creativity," says Emily. Their psychedelic, experimental-rock, jance (jazz-dance) sound is influenced by the likes of QOTSA, Frank Zappa, as well as local acts such as Tongue Bundle and New Secret Weapon. Their symbiotic relationship with local bands has been a key ingredient to their growth. "When you see your peers doing great stuff, it becomes a driving force, because when there's talented people around you, it really helps you and your creativity," says the singer.
The summer saw the group play the Body and Soul festival for the first time and get an invite to perform at Electric Picnic next month. "It has really proven to us that our live show is what we do best. We love playing live, we give it everything, we leave our hearts on the stage," says Emily.

With the stress of exams behind them, Vernon Jane are busy recording new material. "We are hoping to perform a lot of the new material at EP and we want to record one or two of the new songs and release a single in the new year," she says.
