PREMIERE: Lazyrevs share stirring video for 'Tidal Wave'
The duo has an idyllic home studio in Sligo, where the track was recorded.
Living on the Atlantic Coastline has had a massive influence on the atmospheric music created by alt-pop duo Lazyrevs. They have an idyllic home studio in the West of Sligo, and the surrounding nature manifests itself in the lyrics and tonal choices of their latest track, 'Tidal Wave'.
Written, recorded and produced by Tom O’Connor and Nadine Keogh, who together form Lazyrevs, the ethereal track was mastered by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis Studios, London.
The band take inspiration from Aurora, Daughter, Kate Bush, London Grammar and Susanne Sundford, but they have found their own unique & compelling sound. 'Tidal Wave' is the first single from their upcoming EP, which will be released in mid-year, and will include a limited run of vinyl pressings.
The song’s lyrics are "about coming to terms with a loss in your life, and learning how to let go; realising that sometimes the only person who can save you is yourself." The song is for Nadine's dad, Paddy Keogh, who was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer this year. Paddy, a musician in his own right, introduced Nadine to music, and taught her how to play guitar and sing and she sang lead vocals in his cover band throughout her teenage years.
'Tidal Wave' is about the fear of losing that connection with her dad.
Paddy was lucky enough to get onto a new drug trial in St James not long after his diagnosis, which has been very successful so far. During lockdown, Nadine managed to raise money €3,000 for an awareness campaign on Esophageal cancer, which was part of a successful €50,000 campaign to extend the drug trials.
