Alternative rock band Ways of Seeing have shared the music video for their new single 'USA 94', set to release this Friday, June 20.
The track is the second single from their upcoming sophomore album The Inheritance of Fear - produced by Christian Best and mixed by Dan Fox of Gilla Band - coming on September 26.
Blending elements of shoegaze and post-punk, the Cork four-piece draw inspiration from Irish rock groups like Microdisney, Whipping Boy, and The Radiators from Space.
Their new tune combines spoken word and vocals from James O'Donnell with shimmering electric guitars and rhythmic drums, creating an atmospheric, lively mood.
Produced by Gene Murphy and Victoria Alden, the black-and-white music video for 'USA 94' is shot at Cork Lough, depicting O'Donnell leisurely walking along the bank.
The mood shifts as the song progresses, the volume of the guitars and vocals rising, the camera movements becoming distorted and frantic, and the lyrics conveying an impactful message:

"I hope the freedom in the joy can be a catalyst to give way from that woeful Catholic guilt which ensnares us to the rain. That in every joyous moment there's a struggle that remains, so lend an ear or use your voice, let's not stigmatise the pain."
Ways of Seeing aim to use music to dig deeper, revealing parts of the self that might otherwise remain hidden.
They released their debut album End Comes To Light in October 2022, with singles from the record receiving national radio airplay on 2FM The Alternative and the Tom Dunne Show on Newstalk.
In the past, Ways of Seeing supported The Frank and Walters in 2023, as well as performing a sold-out show at Whelan's in 2024.
