Philadelphia Orchestra set for Dublin
One of the big five American orchestras will open the National Concert Hall’s International Concert Series 2011/2012 on August 29 alongside guest violinist Janine Jansen.
Founded in 1900, the Pittsburgh-based orchestra is one of the world’s leading orchestras. They will perform compositions by Sibelius, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Violin Concerto’ at the National Concert Hall. Leading them on stage will be Chief Conductor Charles Dutoit who has garnered over 40 awards and has released over 170 recordings. He has been the Philadelphia Orchestra’s Chief Conductor since 2008.
Janine Jansen is one of the planet’s leading violinists, with her five previous albums receiving platinum status in the Netherlands.
Tickets are available from €55 from the National Concert Hall.
