The multitasking Pat Shortt reflects on an insanely busy and successful year in the bumper Hot Press Annual, which is in the shops now.
Top of the list is starring alongside Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, in the London West End revival of The Cripple Of Inishmaan.
“It did cross my mind, ‘Am I going to be working with some bloody big ‘I am’?” Pat admits, “but Dan couldn’t have been nicer and more grounded, which I think comes from the fact that, like Saoirse Ronan, his folks worked in the industry.
“The energy of the guy as well; for the last month of the run he was getting up at five every morning and heading to Pinewood Studios to do the A Young Doctor’s Handbook series with Jon Hamm. He’d get back to the theatre around six, have an hour’s kip and then go into make-up before doing what was a very, very physical show. I’m not sure I’d be as dedicated to the cause as that if I had his bank balance!”
Also on the agenda are making Queen And Country with John Boorman and Richard E. Grant; upcoming all-star Irish movie Calvary; Moone Boy and why Hollywood might not be for him.
