Paddy Hanna streams full album ahead of release
Frankly, I Mutate is out tomorrow via Strange Brew. And it is an absolute delight.
This early release could cure any ailment, but it is specifically timely for our Storm Emma blues. Hot whiskey in hand, it’ll send you grooving, or at the very least foot-tapping, by the fire.
‘Bad Boys’ is an initial highlight, the attitude of which brings Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground to mind. The rest of the stream similarly evokes fond memories of other icons of music’s past, but with its signature Hanna stamp. For the rich and thoughtful instrumentation alone, it will be a timeless record, but there is significant power in his lush lyricism as well.
Hanna's new LP, the follow up to 2014's Leafy Stiletto and a steady release of singles, was recorded at Bow Lane studios with fellow Dubliner Daniel Fox of Girl Band. String arrangements are courtesy of Ena Brennan, aka Dowry, while guest vocals are also provided by Saint Sister.
This is to be binged on heavily. Check it out below.
