Orla Gartland, The Pogues and others join climate campaign "HOPE OVER FEAR"
The music and climate charity build on their work from their "NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET" movement to establish regional climate hubs across Ireland and the UK.
Orla Gartland and The Pogues have joined a new climate-focused music campaign called "HOPE OVER FEAR".
The project is run by UK charity 'Music Declares Emergency', which has teamed up with artists across Ireland and the UK to use music as a force for climate action.
The campaign also sees artists such as Declan McKenna, Maisie Peters, IDLES, Jasmine 4.t, and Yard Act, among others, coming together to engage with the climate crisis and push for meaningful change.
The "HOPE OVER FEAR" campaign builds on Music Declares Emergency’s earlier message — “NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET”. This time, the focus is on action at a local level. Working alongside the Music Venue Trust, the charity plans to set up regional “action hubs” across Ireland and the UK. These will be community spaces for workshops, gigs, and grassroots projects that bring fans and musicians together to make real progress on sustainability.
Following the success of the "NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET" slogan, proceeds from special "HOPE OVER FEAR" T-shirts—made from organic cotton and printed on demand—will go towards funding these hubs.
"Like Music Declares Emergency, Music Venue Trust believes in the transformative power of music to improve our towns and cities," says Music Venue Trust CEO Mark Davyd. "Grassroots music venues are a fundamental part of their communities and play a key role in bringing people together through music. "They offer spaces to young people to become the artists and music professionals of the future."
"HOPE OVER FEAR" t-shirts are available to order now via the Music Declares store.
