Oasis Croke Park gigs gave significant boost to Dublin economy
Dublin’s hospitality, retail and transport sectors saw a major increase in sales during the Croke Park double-bill
Oasis’ two sold-out shows at Croke Park last weekend delivered a significant boost to Dublin’s economy, with spending across the city rising sharply.
Figures from Revolut show consumer spending in Dublin was up more than 9% compared with the previous weekend, while card transactions increased by over 8%.
Drawing over 80,000 fans each night, it was the Gallagher brothers’ first performance in Ireland in 16 years.
Hospitality businesses benefited significantly, with spending in cafes, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs up by more than 16%.
Taxi drivers also reported a 15% rise in fares, while alcohol sales in shops jumped by more than a third.
Public transport usage in Dublin surged by 120% as fans travelled to and from the stadium, contrasting with a 9% drop elsewhere in the country.
A similar boost in spending was seen last June at Taylor Swift's Aviva Stadium concerts.
The Oasis pop-up shop at St Stephen’s Green also proved a hit, recording hundreds of thousands of euros in sales and extending its run due to demand.
Revolut data showed fans aged 25–34 spent the most, overtaking the older generations who first embraced the band in the 1990s.
Malcolm Craig, general manager of the Revolut Bank UAB Ireland Branch, said the shows demonstrated the “value of attracting genuine A-listers” to the country.
"Consumer spending of this level in just one weekend sends a very strong signal about the confidence of our more than 3 million customers in Ireland," he said.
