Nightwish, one of the world's leading symphonic metal bands and Finland's most successful ever music export, are set to make their long-awaited return to Dublin with a show at the 3Arena on November 17 2021, as part of their upcoming European tour.
They've also announced Finnish Prog metallers Amorphis as very special guests on the tour, alongside Turmion Kätilöt, who will be joining as support.
Originally formed in 1996, Nightwish released their ninth album HUMAN. :II: NATURE. back in April, to critical acclaim. Over the course of their remarkable career, they've become the most successful Finnish band worldwide – selling more than nine million records and netting more than 60 gold and platinum awards, including five No.1 albums and 13 chart-topping singles. Their US breakthrough came with the release of the album Once in 2004, with the single 'Wish I Had an Angel' appearing on a number of film soundtracks and gainiong heavy support from MTV. The band were inducted into the Finnish Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Original members Tuomas Holopainen and Emppu Vuorinen are still the driving forces in the band. The powerful Dutch singer Floor Jansen – a dynamic presence out front – joined in 2013 and the band also features the remarkable multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley, who plays uileann pipes, tin whistle, low whistle, bouzouki, bodhrán and guitars.
Tickets for Nightwish's 3Arena show, which is presented by TEG MJR Éire, go on general sale on Wednesday, February 3, for €50.15 (incl. booking fee).
