Nick Cave beats Bastille to top spot on Irish album chart
Skeleton Tree sees off Wild World to claim pole position
Skeleton Tree, the new album from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, has entered the Irish album charts at No. 1.
The release, a highly emotive record recorded either side of the tragic death of Cave's son Arthur, beat out another new entry to claim top spot; Bastille's Wild World opens its account at No. 2.
In a strong week for new releases, Cathy Davey's The Forest enters at No. 5, while Jack White's collection of acoustic recordings makes it to No. 10.
Last week's chart topper James Vincent McMorrow see his We Move stick about at the business end; he's at No 4, one position below – preposterously – Ed Sheeran's x, which is the third best-selling LP more than two years after its release.
Hozier displays similar staying power with his eponymous debut at No. 7, with another Irish act, Picture This, taking eighth spot. A pair of urban heavyweights round out the top ten, with Drake's Views and Frank Ocean's Blonde at No. 6 and No. 9 respectively.
