New Dublin Docklands venue given the green light
It should be up and running by the start of the summer.
Harry Crosbie has been given planning permission for his open air Point Village venue in Dublin Docklands.
Like several waterside venues in Europe, it’ll be constructed out of strategically placed shipping containers and be used for gigs, film screenings and weekend markets.
“We are planning, between the Point Village Square and The O2 and the big wheel, to have seven million people a year visiting the area,” Crosbie tells the Press Association. "This will be a site that will combine the attractions of the world's busiest concert venue of its size, a market to rival Covent Garden and a unique tourist attraction in the big wheel.”
The venue, which will remain in place until 2014, should be open at the start of the summer.
