Beat 102-103 and WIT have joined forces to present two of Ireland’s grooviest acts in Waterford City’s Phil Grimes’ Bar and then broadcast the gigs on radio.
On Wednesday night, April 14, Neosupervital will be the featured act, and on Wednesday April 21 it will be the turn of David Geraghty. The gigs will subsequently be broadcast on the Irish Beats programme with Rob O’Connor on Beat 102-103 on Sunday April 18 and Sunday April 25 respectively from 6pm to 8pm.
According to O’Connor, “This is a win-win-win for everyone involved. The students get real world experience great audio pieces for their portfolios. The radio station gets to broadcast some amazing live acts and most importantly, punters get to go along to a breathtaking show.”
Admission to the Irish Beats Sessions is strictly limited to 50 people and tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis on the night – so getting there early is advised. Staff and students at WIT will provide all of the technical expertise for the gigs. Audio technology students of BSc Entertainment Systems will engineer and record the gig as part of their coursework.
Neosupervital, a.k.a. Tim Donovan, has wowed audiences all across North America and is currently touring around Ireland before launching his second album in the summer. Taking a break from touring the world with one of Ireland’s biggest bands, Bell X1, and appearing on the likes of the Tonight Show with Dave Letterman and Conan O’Brien’s Late Show, David Geraghty is one of Ireland’s most respected musicians. His last two albums, Kill Your Darlings and The Victory Dance receiving the thumbs up from critics and fans alike.
