Nelly throws back the pimp juice
Slagged by his bros: furore has erupted in the US over Nelly's endorsement of a brand of tropical berry juice.
MCD are making available a final batch of tickets for the Nelly & St. Lunatics show which takes place in Dublin's Point Theatre on November 12. These go on sale on Thursday September 18 at 9am priced €44.50 and €49.50.
The rapper has been having a tempestuous time of things at home with a coalition of Afro-American groups objecting to his endorsement of a new soft drink called Pimp Juice.
"The title of Nelly's energy drink rubbed me the wrong way and made me jump up and shout, 'We are not pimps and hos – we are the fathers and mothers of civilisation being pimped by the system and treated like hos," complains Paul Scott of the Messianic Afrikan Nation.
Najee Ali of Project Islam Hope is even more scathing. "Nelly is sell-out because he only cares about making money, just like pimps and drugs pushers," he fumes. "We intend to chase Pimp Juice out of the black community. Any store that carries this product will be targeted for boycotts."
Named after his current platinum-selling album, Pimp Juice is "a healthy, non-carbonated drink possessing a tropical berry flavor" and "which employs Guarana to adequately address the energy needs of its consumers."
