Mundy launches 'Tea And Cake' events for Marriage Equality

'Tea And Cake' is a grassroots campaign encouraging people to gather together to share their personal stories and reasons for voting ‘Yes’ in the upcoming Marriage Referendum on May 22 and it's got some big name backing.
Mundy, who we chat to in the current issue of Hot Press, was joined at the official launch in Dublin's Cake Cafe by singer and actress Camille O'Sullivan and Father Ted and Eastenders star Pauline McLynn.
The events, hosted by members of the public, are designed to create thought provoking conversation about the marriage referendum between neighbours, colleagues, friends and family, and convince those who are not sure which way they will vote, to vote yes.
People are invited to host ‘Tea And Cake’ events over the Bank Holiday Weekend, between May 1 – 4, in their homes, offices and clubs, exchanging honest and open views on marriage equality.
"For me it’s very simple, no one should be denied the right to marry the person they love," said McLynn. "Unfortunately at the moment, even in 21st century Ireland, not everyone is treated equal. But voting ‘Yes’ on May 22 is a huge step towards strengthening the rights of so many Irish citizens."
Mundy added: "We need to reassure people that there’s nothing to be afraid of by voting ‘Yes’, and also remind ‘Yes’ voters to take a stand and use their vote to make a difference to the future of Ireland."
