Minus 8 are the latest in a long line of central European noodlers to end up on Compost. And why not – there’s no better home for the lot of ‘em. This compilation sits somewhere between an artist album and a remix album – but we’ll let them off as the majority of tracks are original material. The good news is it’s mostly a delight: summer encapsulated on plastic. ‘The Sun’, ‘Come Along, Come Again’, ‘Bossanova Feelin’’ and ‘Starlight’ are breezy, jazzy, latin/bossa/broken beat numbers that make you wanna shake something proper. Of the remixes, it’s Dr Rockit’s rework of ‘Cold Fusion’ and the Compost edit of ‘Sometimes’ that shine. One criticism is that might all get a wee bit tedious to keep coming back to, but for the jazzy beatnik type if your life, it’s ideal.
