MC Abdul teams up with Cork's GMCBeats for 'Palestine'

Having already earned the approval of the likes of DJ Khaled, Bella Hadid and Lowkey with his previous releases, MC Abdul, a 12-year-old rapper from Gaza City, is back with a video for his new single, 'Palestine (Freestyle)' – a collaboration with Cork's GMCBeats.

"This past week has been very tough for my home, Gaza City," the young rapper says of the track. "I just want the world to know about the situation in Palestine."

Rapping over the instrumental for Eminem's 'Cleanin' Out My Closet', MC Abdul, reflects on the reality of life in Palestine:

"This one's for Sheikh Jarrah, hoping it can make a difference/ 'Cos the same thing happened in '48/ My grandparents got evicted, and forced to move away/ To the refugee camp in Gaza – no, nothing has changed/ They could never return, so this where I am today/ Getting calls from cousins, to see if I am alive/ This here is not fireworks that are lighting the sky..."

The lyrics are credited to both MC Abdul and GMCBeats. As reported by the Irish Examiner, the Cork producer, aka Garraí Mac, has been a mentor to the young Palestinian artist since 2019. GMCBeats is also the coordinator of the Kabin Studio in Cork, and runs rap, beats, songwriting and recording workshops for young people.

The video has already been viewed millions of times across social media platforms since being posted this weekend.
