Marmalade EP
Lost Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth by Geraldine Fibbers
The Geraldine Fibbers: “Marmalade EP” (Hut)
The Geraldine Fibbers: “Marmalade EP” (Hut)
Named after the infamous northside Dublin vicepit (joke), the Fibbers are purveyors of down-home C’n’W-tinged rock not too unlike the Cowboy Junkies. ‘Marmalade’ is suitably maudlin and melancholic, but the real highlight is an utterly faithful cover version of George Jones’ beautiful ‘The Grand Tour’ with an eerie, jarring violin that really will “chill you to the bone”.
