Mark Geary announces new album and tour
Mark Geary has announced details of his new album, Opium, which is out on April 11.
The original sessions took place in Dingle with drummer Eric Gebow, Josh Ritter sidekick Sam Kassirer and the Odlums, Karl and Dave, adding extra muscle to the sound.
Asked about the Class A-tastic title, the New York-domiciled singer says: “It’s about escape and the notion of consequence. All of that plays a part in what I was thinking about when I was making the record. I torture myself with these dark thoughts and in doing so reveal some of my demons and drugs of choice.”
Along with lead single ‘Tuesday’ – “It’s the day all the shit changes” – the collection includes ‘Maid Of Gold’, ‘Cold Little Fire’, ‘Not On Your Life’, ‘Angel’, ‘Facing The Fall’, ‘See-Saw’, ‘Maid Of Gold’, ‘Always’, ‘Atrophy’, ‘The Kings Of Swords’ and ‘Wake Up’.
The accompanying tour takes Geary to The Sugar Club, Dublin (April 19); Dolan’s, Limerick (22); Crane Lane, Cork (24); and the Roisin Dubh, Galway (25).
