Lorde performs 'Solar Power' on New York rooftop
The New Zealand pop poet gave a performance of her latest single at the historic Ed Sullivan Theatre for The Late Show.
Lorde emerged from her four-year hiatus last month with the release of her new track 'Solar Power'.
Lorde is known for taking her time with releasing music. Her critically acclaimed debut Pure Heroine was released when she was just 16 and was praised by the likes of David Bowie. This record was followed four years later by the synth-dominated party concept album Melodrama. Now, four years after that Solar Power is to be released this coming August 20.
The singer debuted her live performance of the title track on last week's episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Her laid-back guitar-led single is reminiscent of stripped-back 90s rock. Lorde sang her summer anthem on the rooftop Ed Sullivan Theatre on a warm New York evening. Wearing an altered version of the sunny yellow beachwear from the song's music video, Lorde danced across the rooftop which released a gentle cloud of bubbles at the song's closing chorus.
