'Broken Record' arrived today along with a music video, new label signing and tour announcement.
Somebody's Child has delivered a brand new single this morning in the form of 'Broken Record'.
Alongside the accompanying music video, bandleader Cian Godfrey has confirmed his signing to indie label Frenchkiss Records, as well as a massive EU and UK tour.
Of the video and song, Somebody's Child says, “It explores my fear of growing up. Getting older and feeling trapped, attempting to reconnect with my former self and trying to regain a sense of innocence that was once taken for granted."
Godfrey entered the spotlight during the 2020 lockdown with EP 20-Something, which included hit singles 'Hold Me Like You Wanna' and 'We Could Start a War' which racked up millions of streams. He followed this EP with two more in one year: Hope, Amongst Other Things, and Staying Sane.
These sent him on his first headline tour of the UK and Ireland. His 'unapologetically loud' indie-pop sound has now earned him a place with Frenchkiss Records.

“Frenchkiss is thrilled to be able to work with Somebody’s Child. I love their ability to layer both mature songwriting with vulnerability. This kind of authenticity is something that I find is lacking in much of today’s music. Somebody’s Child provides this exact element that is still needed, both in recording and playing live. They are nothing short of amazing," said Syd Butler, President of Frenchkiss Records.
The band's UK, Ireland and EU tour will kick off on 8th February, 2023 in Manchester. Tickets go on sale this Friday, 9th September at 10am.
