LISTEN: Primal Scream preview new album
Stream an 18-minute taster of More Light now.
Primal Scream are back working with Belfast producer David Holmes on their new record More Light and you can sample the results right now.
An 18-minute preview of what guitarist Andrew Innes described to Hot Press as "strange psychedelia" is located below.
Another band member, frontman Bobby Gillespie, has also been talking to HP about their tenth LP.
In a new interview with Eamon Sweeney, Gillespie says: “It’s truly incredible. I only realised it was our tenth album when someone said it to me the other day."
Of their propensity for working with dance-influenced producers like Holmes and Weatherall, he notes: "We just don’t seem to make those five-guys-in-a-room records. Both David Holmes and Andrew Weatherall had creative lives as a result of acid house. The excitement of the club became the catalyst for people finding out that they want to be creative. Everything was a creative act then. A few years after that, it turned bad, or at least it did for me and my friends.”
Gillespie also opens up about the band's drug past, their dispute with Steve Van Zandt, and opines on everything from Thatcher to Britpop.
Read the full piece in the new issue of Hot Press, hitting shelves this Thursday, May 9.
