LISTEN: Of Montreal stream new album online
A first listen before its official March release courtesy of our pals at NPR.
In December, American experimentalists Of Montreal (actually of REM's old stomping ground Athens, Georgia) dropped new track 'Bassem Sabry' and announced the March release of Aureate Gloom. We haven't reached that month yet, but Kevin Barnes and the band have decided to stream the follow-up to 2013's Lousy With Sylvianbriar ahead of time online. Recorded at the Sonic Ranch in Texas, it is most strongly influenced by New York bands from the '70s, Talking Heads and Television included. You can hear it at NPR's website now.
The tracklisting:
1. ‘Bassem Sabry’
2. ‘Last Rites At The Jane Hotel’
3. ‘Empyrean Abbatoir’
4. ‘Aluminum Crown’
5. ‘Virgillian Lots’
6. ‘Monolithic Egress’
7. ‘Apollyon Of Blue Room’
8. ‘Estocadas’
9. ‘Chthonian Dirge For Uruk The Other’
10. ‘Like Ashoka’s Inferno of Memory’
