LISTEN: Disclosure drop 'In My Arms’ and 'Happening', announce new EP

Disclosure have shared their brand new singles ‘In My Arms’ and ‘Happening’ and announced details for their new EP, Never Enough.

The English DJ duo released ‘In My Arms’ on Monday (August 16) and ‘Happening’ on Tuesday (August 17). The pair are releasing a single every 24 hours before their new EP drops on Friday (August 20).

‘In My Arms’ is a festival banger, balancing eerie vocals with thumping drums and Disclosure’s trademark danceable beats. ‘Happening’ pulses with a galloping bass as the pair chop up vocal samples to inject some pop into the dance track.

The Lawrence brothers released EPs in this format in 2020 and 2018 as well. Their forthcoming project was inspired by the potential return of live music in clubs.

“We asked each other...What does that first moment back in a club sound like? What does walking into Shangri-la, Glasto at 2am feel like again? What does a headline show at Reading look like after all the difficulties 2020 brought on our whole industry?” said Guy Lawrence said, discussing the EP.

“With all these questions unanswered and with the possibility that any of these events may actually be allowed to take place, we set to work on creating something that might fit one of those magical moments some of us have been longing to participate in again,” he concluded.

The Surrey natives released their debut studio album, Settle, back in 2013 via PMR Records. It was later nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards.

Their second studio album, Caracal, arrived in September 2015 and was also nominated for the same award at the 2016 Grammys.

The duo released their last album Energy in 2020. In her review of the album, Hot Press' Lucy O'Toole said, "By revelling in this sense of unapologetic enthusiasm and positivity, Disclosure have crafted a project that's not entirely tone deaf to the current situation, but rather a necessary reminder that the dance floors will, one day, reopen."

Energy earned the Best Dance/Electronic Album nomination at the 2021 Grammy Awards, alongside the fourth single from the album, 'My High' (feat. slowthai) - nominated for Best Dance Recording.
