LISTEN: Coldplay share 10-minute cinematic space track ‘Coloratura’
Coldplay follow up their May hit ‘Higher Power’ with a 10-minute interstellar track.
Coldplay have shared their latest track ‘Coloratura’; the closing track from their upcoming album Music of the Spheres.
‘Coloratura’ is not being referred to as an official single release, with the band’s second offering from the album slated to land in September. The song is taken from their ninth studio album, produced by prolific pop virtuoso Max Martin and follows on from May's ‘Higher Power’.
Clocking in at ten minutes, the track features a number of spacey elements all tied together by Chris Martin’s refrain: “It’s a crazy world, it’s true / In this crazy world, I just want you.”
It accompanies the interstellar theme of the album thus far, with the band even premiering 'Higher Power' up in space with French astronaut Thomas Pesquet. Music of the Spheres will be released on October 15th and marks the London outfit's first full-length project since 2019's Everyday Life.
“Thank you for listening, or coming to shows, or any way we have met through music,” the band said in a note to fans, accompanied with the phrase, “Everyone is an alien somewhere.”
Coldplay officially previewed Music of the Spheres's tracklist earlier in the week, featuring ‘Coloratura’ and ‘Higher Power' and a number of tracks simply titled with emojis.
