Justin Bieber joins Chris Martin, Madonna and Shakira for World Cup Final half-time show

Justin Bieber has joined a star-studded lineup for the FIFA World Cup half-time show, which organisers have confirmed will last 11 minutes.

The Canadian pop star will join Madonna, Shakira, and BTS for a Super Bowl-style half-time performance on July 19.

Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus featuring Coldplay, and the Sesame Street muppets are also set to appear during the set, which supports the Fifa Global Citizen Education Fund.

Coldplay's Chris Martin is curating the lineup for the event, a first for a World Cup Final, while concerns have been raised over the performance's effect on the length of halftime.

Current football rules say "players are entitled to an interval at half-time, not exceeding 15 minutes". A performance of 11 minutes may need this duration extended, given the time needed to assemble and dissemble the stage.

However, the announcement has quelled concerns from some fans that the show could last as long as 25 minutes .

FIFA chief Gianni Infantino has said the half-time show will be "definitely the biggest stage ever," with "a couple of billion" expected to tune in.

Justin Bieber returned to the stage after a four-year hiatus at Coachella earlier this year. The lo-fi show was his biggest in four years after he cancelled his Justice world tour following health issues.

The singer spent much of the gig sitting in front of a laptop and singing to YouTube music videos of his older hits, such as 'Baby', 'Never Say Never', 'One Time' and 'Beauty and the Beat'.
