PULP: “Lipgloss” (Island)

Pulp seem to have two personas: a dizzy-headed experimentalism and an impatient, cluttered pop style. Here it’s the latter from a taster that’s the title track of their first proper Island album and what makes Pulp interesting is that they can persuade you they’re the only English band who might have learned from the gloriously heedless provincial romanticism of the great Band Of Holy Joy.
