Linda Perry to receive international award at The Ivors
Linda Perry, the musician behind the 1993 hit 'What's Up', will receive the accolade for the impact her career has had on the UK music industry.
4 Non Blondes singer and lead guitarist Linda Perry is set to receive the Special International Award at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards.
The Special International Award is a prestigious Ivor Novello Award presented by The Ivors Academy to recognise an international songwriter whose career has had a significant impact on the UK music industry.
The Massachusetts-born musician wrote and produced the band's 1993 hit single 'What's Up', which reached number one in 10 countries and sold 1.5 million copies between 1992 and 1994.
“It’s an honour to be recognised for my songwriting contributions at the 71st Ivor Novello Awards. So many incredible artists have been celebrated and I am humbled to be standing alongside them," said Perry.
The singer also wrote other notable hits for the band, including 'Spaceman', 'Dear Mr President' and 'Pleasantly Blue'.
Perry has worked with several popstars including Adele, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Celine Dion.
“With defiance, vulnerability and honesty, Linda’s songwriting is instantly recognisable", said Tom Gray, Chair of The Ivors Academy.
"She has continuously captured both hearts and the airwaves. You just know her songs will endure and continue to resonate”.
At The Ivors, Perry will join a roll call of songwriter greats that includes Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, David Bowie, Adele, RAYE, Stormzy, Bill Withers, Bruce Springsteen, Brian Wilson, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, Dave, Sting, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Charli xcx, Lana Del Rey, Lola Young, Lou Reed and Elton John.
“Linda Perry’s songwriting continues to have a profound impact on global popular culture", said Roberto Neri, CEO of The Ivors Academy.
"We are proud to honour her with the Special International Award at The Ivors, celebrating her incredible music and authentic craft".
Perry recently announced her first solo album in 25 years with Let It Die Here, which will be released on May 8.
