Kesha calls out White House for using her music on TikTok
Recently, other artists, including Radiohead, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo, have criticised the Trump Administration for using their music without their consent.
Kesha has taken to her socials to condemn the White House for using her 2010 track ‘Blow’ in a military TikTok.
The video depicts U.S. stealth fighter jets bombing vessels, like those struck in the Caribbean as part of Donald Trump's alleged anti-narcoterrorist campaign. The post currently has over 16 million views and around two million likes.
"It's come to my attention that The White House has used one of my songs on TikTok to incite violence and threaten war," said Kesha. "Trying to make light of war is disgusting and inhumane. I absolutely do NOT approve of my music being used to promote violence of any kind.
"Love always trumps hate. please love yourself and each other in times like this. This show of blatant disregard for human life and quite frankly this attack on all of our nervous systems is the opposite of what I stand for."
The singer ended her statement by referencing the Epstein files and Trump's alleged connection to American financier and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
"Also, don't let this distract us from the fact that criminal predator Donald Trump appears in the Files over a million times."
This isn't the first time an artist has criticised the Trump administration for using their music without their consent.
In November of last year, Olivia Rodrigo criticised the United States Homeland Security after they used her ‘all-american bitch’ in a clip that encouraged undocumented immigrants to self-deport.
Last December, Sabrina Carpenter denounced the White House for using her song ‘Juno’ in a video promoting the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
A few days ago, Radiohead also condemned ICE for using a choral rendition of ‘Let Down’ in a video displaying images of individuals, insinuating that they had been harmed by immigrants.
Kesha will be performing at the 3Arena, Dublin, on March 21, and at Live at the Marquee, Cork, on July 7. These shows are part of her The Tits Out UK and EU tour, in support of her recent album .(Period).
The record is her first album as an indie artist since parting ways with American musician, songwriter and producer Dr Luke's Kemosabe Records and RCA almost three years ago.
