Jessica Chastain confirmed as Villain in X-Men Dark Phoenix

Jessica Chastain will appear in the X-Men Dark Phoenix in a villainous role.

It had been rumored previously that the actress would be starring in the upcoming film for months now but Chastain has confirmed her involvement via an Instagram post in which she can be seen posing with James McAvoy, who stars as Professor X in the films.

The caption reads "He James , you ready for me up in Montreal? Im gonna make you cry so hard ?".Montreal is where filming is currently taking place.

Early reports suggest that Chastain will be playing Princess-Majestrix Lilandra Neramani in the film. Neramani will be on a mission to destroy Jean Grey(Sophie Turner) who transforms into the all powerful Dark Phoenix of the film's title.

Michael Fassbender is also set to return as Magneto with Jennifer Lawrence, Nicolas Hoult and Tye Sheridan also coming back to the franchise. X-Men Dark Phoenix will hit our cinemas late 2018.
