The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl getting reissued
Remastered and expanded as Live at the Hollywood Bowl
The Beatles' 1964 and 1965 Hollywood Bowl concerts will be out as a live album September 9.
The concerts were previously the focus of 1977's The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl LP.
The upcoming album will include unreleased tracks and remastered versions of previously released tracks. The 1977 release is generally perceived as having sub-par sound quality and excessive crowd noise, so hopefully the remaster improves on its predecessor.
"Fifth Beatle" George Martin's son Giles remixed and mastered the album with engineer Sam Okell at Abbey Road. Giles cites technological advancements as lending the record "improved clarity".
"What we hear now is the raw energy of four lads playing together to a crowd that loved them", he said. "This is the closest you can get to being at the Hollywood Bowl at the height of Beatlemania."
The CD and digital editions will be out September 9, but vinyl heads will have to wait for November 18 for the vinyl release.
The album is a companion piece to Ron Howard's forthcoming documentary Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years.
