Irish singer tops the UK singles chart
Siva Kaneswaran has achieved the feat with boy band The Wanted.
While Jedward reign supreme on the Irish singles chart, the UK top spot has been claimed this week by The Wanted, a new boy band signed to Geffen whose ranks include Dubliner Siva Kaneswaran.
The Kaneswaran family has pop previous with Siva’s sister, Hazel, one-third of Dove who had a minor hit in 1999 with their cover of Crowded House’s ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’. Before joining The Wanted, the 21-year-old worked as a model locally and has an interesting tale to tell about hanging out with Rihanna!
Formed a year ago by the same management team as The Saturdays who advertised for members in The Stage, The Wanted have built up their tweenage fan base by playing dozens of UK school and club gigs.
‘All Time Low’ is the first track to be lifted from their debut album, which follows in November, and includes Guy Chambers and Taio Cruz among its A-List songwriting team.
