Irish band to mark Shackleton's anniversary
Newly-formed Irish band The Difference Engine are to release their debut single next month, in honour of Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton
The Difference Engine will release ‘Elephant Island’ on February 15, (explorer Ernest Shackleton's birthday), and will officially launch the track in Shebeen Chic on February 24.
The band are an indie, pop and trumpet four-piece, of whom Hot Press commented: "The Difference Engine grabbed you by the throat and dragged you in the door. Their songs are as strong as the band’s on stage presence."
Band member Brian Canavan explained the new track to Hot Press, 'Elephant Island' is about Shackleton’s attempt to cross the Antarctic in 1914, the sinking of his ship The Endurance and his 800-mile boat trip from Elephant Island to South Georgia Island.”
