Irish artists to commemorate Chernobyl 25th anniversary
They'll perform a selection of songs - some dating back to 1986, the year the Chernobyl disaster occured
Paul Noonan, Liam O Maonlaí, Jamie Lawson, Clive Barnes and Ian Doyle will sing '25 Songs for 25 Years' to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Chernobyl at Set Theatre in Kilkenny on April 25, to raise funds for Chernobyl Children International.
The selection of songs will include some old, some new and some dating back to 1986, the year the Chernobyl disaster occured.
The funds will go towards the running of a summer camp in Belarus in August. The camp takes children out orphanages for three weeks of rest and recuperation. These children are either too ill or too institutionalised to travel abroad, so this programme is an alternative route to helping them.
The board of Chernobyl Children International (CCI) includes Bono's wife Ali Hewson, as well as Noel Kelly, William Keary, Liz O'Donnell, Mary Ahern and Peter Lacy.
Tickets for the event, prived €25, are available from Rollercoaster Records in Kilkenny (056) 77 63669, or you can log onto [link]www.set.ie[/link] for more details.
