Imelda May to headline new Groove Festival
The rockabilly queen is among the acts performing at the new Groove Festival this July.
Killruddery Estate in Wicklow is the venue for Groove, a new two-day soul, funk, roots, R&B and rock ‘n’ roll bash taking place on July 6 and 7.
The people behind it are the Monkstown-based Cable Music – Managing Director Roger Duggan attended last years Hot Press Mix Course – who are also planning to run one-off gigs in Dublin.
Running daily from 2pm to 10.30pm, the headline attractions are:
Saturday – James Morrison and Jazzie B & The Soul II Soul Sound System
Sunday – Imelda May and Damien Dempsey
There will also be a second stage curated by the Whelan’s live crew, a Diversity Tent run by Groove’s charitable partner VSO, artisan food and a Kids’ Zone.
Day tickets (€59) and weekend passes (€99) are available from the festival website. Each adult is allowed to bring one child under 12 for free.
